“Rotkäppchen”School is over, and with it concludes my grueling semester of Lithography. To celebrate the end of my stone block printing days, I thought I might queue some of my favorite pieces from this semester. All of these prints are available for purchase, so feel free to message me if you are interested!

This piece is a little heavier handed. While Little Red Riding Hood has incured many interpretations over the years, I decided to focus on it’s most basic warning. Innocently enough, the tale is warning children about stranger danger. However, on a more mature level, the story is a warning to women about the risks they face by going out into the world on their own. We carry the warnings with us everywhere we go until they become the monsters that darken the woods we travel in.

Red strings represent the destinies of people being tied together. Crows are associated with death. Make of this piece what you will then.

I like puns, alright? They are my curse and my strength. And that is pretty much all the commentary I have for this piece.

I finally got to draw a dinosaur in college, guys. All of my dreams are coming true. Also, Nostalgia Critic sums up the idea behind this piece quite nicely.

First up is Saint Serena. Based on a disagreement my class had about the relevancy of fan art in the art world, I combined anime, religion, and Alphonse Mucha for our final trade print. That way, everyone in my class got a little bit of what they wanted.

“Fan Art is a Religious Affair”

Design concept for my final litho project. Based around a debate we had in a previous critique about fan art. My professor and TA dismissed fan art as not being “real art” since it is of an already established character/idea, which lead me to retort “what then is any religious or classical art?”.

So voila, thus was born the immaculate Sailor Mary (with some nods to other iconic women in religion). I still have a few days to tweak this, so please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas to add to this!
